One month after the creation of the team, the excellent results gotten in the last races have done that Ancha Castilla arrived to the 6th Division, without stops in the 7th Division.
The results arrived thanks to the 2 pillars of the team in the 8th Division:
On the one hand, the veteran sprinter Dedrick Perk, who after 4 seasons in the Sonic Cycling, arrived to the new team with the intention of getting some points in sprint races. The Dutchman met the expectations and he got 4 podium (with one victory in Nordjylland GP) in 7 races. He got too 78 OCM points. However, after the promotion to the 6th Division, the polemic arrived because some rumors went around about the team is going to sell him because of the age and the high demand of the new category. ”If they think that I am too old, that is their problem. I have competed in Divisions that this team probably is not going to reach never, and I did it not many time ago. If they don´t want me, they should tell me it to my face and I will look for another team where at least there will be staff and riders will speak English. ”
On the other hand, the young rider Paulino Zubeldia. After some years standing out in amateur races in Durango (Basque Country) and close towns, the Basque decided to join to the initial project that Ancha Castilla´s manager proposed to him. So, after weeks of hard training, results arrived, and Zubeldia got 6 podium, with 4 victories in high mountain races. Those results made that the Basque got 164 OCM points in one month of competition and he reached the 67th position in Spain Tour Rank. “It has been an incredible start. Now, we must keep working in order to continue with those fantastic results, which won´t be easy in 6th Division”.
Ancha Castilla´s manager was asked about the controversy, and about some rumors about the arrival of a new rider: “I have nothing to say about Dedrick. He is a great rider and we owe him a big part of the promotion. Everybody make mistakes in the life. Regarding rumors about a new rider, our economic situation nowadays it´s not very good, but before long we expect to receive extra money. With that money we will try to hire a young climber who can accompany to Zubeldia in mountain races of the new season. This is not 8th Division where Zubeldia dominated by himself every mountain race; in the new category he will need a good climber team around him”.
Although the atmosphere is not good at all in Ancha Castilla, there is not polemic which could avoid the happiness of the team for the promotion to 6th Division.

Ya ha pasado más de un mes desde la creación del equipo, y los excelentes resultados cosechados en las últimas carreras han llevado a éste hasta la 6º División en lo que ha sido un ascenso vertiginoso sin parada en la 7ª División.
Los resultados han venido de la mano de los 2 pilares fundamentales del Ancha Castilla en la 8ª División:
Por un lado, el veterano sprinter Dedrick Perk, quien tras 4 temporadas en la disciplina del Sonic Cycling, llegó a su nuevo equipo con la intención de obtener algunos preciados puntos en carreras llanas con final al sprint. El holandés cumplió con las expectativas consiguiendo 4 podios (entre ellos la victoria en el Nordjylland GP) en las 7 carreras disputadas, y ascendiendo a 78 los puntos conseguidos en la clasificación oficial OCM. Sin embargo, tras el ascenso a 6ª División, la polémica llegó ya que algunos rumores situaron a Dedrick Perk fuera del equipo a causa de la edad y la elevada exigencia de la nueva categoría. “Si consideran que soy demasiado viejo es su problema. He corrido en categorías que probablemente este equipo no correrá en su vida, y de eso no hace tanto tiempo. Si no me quieren, que me lo digan a la cara y me buscaré la vida en otro equipo donde al menos haya un staff técnico y los corredores hablen inglés.”
Por otro lado, el joven escalador Paulino Zubeldia. Tras varios años destacando en las carreras amateurs celebradas en Durango y alrededores, el vasco decidió unirse al proyecto inicial que el manager de Ancha Castilla le propuso. Así, y tras semanas de duro entrenamiento, los resultados comenzaron a llegar, y Zubeldia obtuvo 6 podios, entre los que destacan 4 victorias en carreras de alta montaña. Estos resultados han llevado a que el vasco haya obtenido 164 puntos OCM en un mes de competición, alcanzando de esta manera el puesto 67 en el ranking español. “Ha sido un comienzo soñado. Ahora debemos seguir trabajando para dar continuidad a estos fantásticos resultados, cosa que no será nada fácil en 6ª División”.
Preguntado por la polémica con Dedrick Perk, y sobre los rumores que hablan de alguna nueva incorporación al equipo, el Manager dijo lo siguiente: “No tengo nada que decir sobre Dedrick. Es un magnífico corredor al que debemos en gran parte el ascenso a la nueva categoría, y todos en esta vida cometemos errores. Respecto a los rumores sobre un nuevo fichaje, nuestra situación económica actual no es demasiado buena, pero próximamente esperamos recibir unos ingresos extra con el que acometer la incorporación de algún joven escalador que acompañe a Zubeldia en las carreras de la nueva temporada. Esto no es la 8ª División donde Zubeldia dominaba en solitario toda carrera de montaña; en esta categoría necesitará de un buen equipo de escaladores a su alrededor.”
Si bien es cierto que el ambiente anda caldeado en el Ancha Castilla, no hay polémica que pueda empañar la felicidad que todo el equipo siente al haber logrado el ascenso a 6ª División.
